Importation of medicine or importation of raw material of medicine should take recommendation letter
(1) For the purposes of Section 9 of the Act, a person who wishes to import drugs for extraction, drug samples for testing, or substances such as main raw materials, auxiliary raw materials, packaging materials, reference chemicals used for drug analysis for the purpose of drug production The application should be submitted to the department in the format as per schedule-6.
(2) Upon the application received according to sub-rule (1), the department shall carry out the necessary investigation to import the drug extract mentioned in the application, to import the drug sample for testing or to import the main raw material, auxiliary raw material, packaging materials, used for drug analysis for the purpose of drug production. If it is deemed appropriate to import substances such as reference chemicals, it will take the application as per schedule-14 and give the export or import recommendation letter in the format as per schedule-7.
(3) Notwithstanding anything written elsewhere in this rule, if the patient applies for importation of life-saving drugs that are not manufactured or registered in Nepal for their own purposes, along with the relevant doctor's prescription, and if it is deemed appropriate after examining the procedure: The department will issue a recommendation letter for importation within three days after receiving the fee as per schedule-14. (4) Arrangements should be made so that the adoption recommendation letter as per sub-rule (3) can be given through the online system as well.
